A novel which touched the heart of all readers, Chetan Bhagath made the young generation get back to reading. Yeahh this was the most highly anticipated movie this year .. Well the movie may have IDIOT written all over it but surely doesn’t make you one when you watch it…

Pull up your pants for after the famous jaadu ki japphi and Gandhigiri in the past by Rajkumar Hirani gives us a Jahapanah act (now don’t u ask what’s tat) which just leaves us lingering for anything more he can offer.. Hirani’s hangover in making people flock to theatres just doesn’t seem to end.. He gives us a very witty tale to relish with a thought as to how to look at life with a deeper meaning rather than just get into a mad race for success without any aim just to have materialistic benefit without giving any insight to what your heart is calling for..

The movie starts off with a neat narration by Farhan Qureshi(Madhavan) along with Raju Rastogi(Sharman Joshi) whose just amazing with his acting skills in search of their all time best buddy who changed their life for the best they could have achieved.. This is penned in with flashbacks of their college life (shot at IIM Bangalore !! hehe sry folks well I just couldn’t keep myself by not mentioning this) … and how he transforms a the so called losers in college into respectable positions and goes missing himself. Mixed with a love story with Bebo Kareena just adds salt to taste to the movie..

Salt water is a good conductor of electricity. Everyone’s read it, but Rancho (Aamir Khan) applied it on his ‘pissed-off’ senior to escape getting ragged on his very first day of Engineering. With just a belief of striving for excellence with a warm heart rather than hurrying towards success.. The movie is based keeping this theme as the core… The other 3 important characters Farhan whose main aim is to become a wild life photographer but is forced into Engineering only to fulfill his dad’s dream.. Then there’s Raju a poor lad who’s so afraid of failure that his fear has become a self-fulfilling prophecy and Chatur (Omi) who’s a learning machine bindaaas at mugging up books.lol .. On top of all them is Viru Sahastrabuddhe (Boman Irani – Cheers again Boman u rock) college princi fondly called Virus who gives a groovy example as to how life is a rat race where u just gotta step on another person to get to the top.. Ofcourse this is quite too serious a person to deal with for Rancho who just has a back answer for almost everything starting from the main system how the college is run.. His questions perplex all the professors and of course he’s on the hit list of Virus. Sandwiched between there is Pia (Bebo Kareena) , prof’s daughter who falls for Rancho but has a lot to deal backend at home..

However the movie does take a turn away from the main theme especially during the second half with baby delivery scene. We actually get to see a delivery done with a vacuum cleaner by instructions given via a webcam – Technology has grown leap and bounds.. lol .. However the director does buckle up with it towards the end giving a lasting feel which might just make you consider watching it for another time.. There is some great humor which is what makes the watcher hooked on however i did really feel some went over the wall.. For instance, Chatur’s convocation speech in which the word ‘Chamatkar’ is replaced by ‘Balatkar’ is a gag stretched too long. And there’s too much butt baring and dropping of pants.. Agggh!! ugly na … And the screenplay too takes a circuitous route through a funeral and a wedding, both not essential to the plot.

But no regrets it’s a movie to chill .. thanks to Sharman.. Give him bow. Natural acting at its best..Aamir of course no words .. just went back 20 yrs from a 44yr old to a 22yr old freak.. Boman as in all the Hirani movies superb again.. His jaw line protruded, his brows pursed, his gait ungainly, his speech lisped, Boman is the exact example of the Virus he was supposed to be… Kareena however has a bare little scrap in the script.

Songs which did’nt get me hooked during the audio release just got me highly addicted after the watching the movie.. Give me some sunshine – My fav track just keeps repeating … Behti Hawa song thru the mind-blowing landscapes of Himachal thru Shimla is soothing …Wonderful cinematography as well..

There are some sequences which keep lingering in my mind.. Embarrassing situation at the reception of Virus’s first daughter; The dinner at Raju’s home – his mom mentioning the price of Bindi; Paneer; Choreography for the song Zoobie Doobie – Very neatly planned ; Students praying just before the exam results are announced ; After the Wedding elope scene when they tell Pia they’re still in doubt whether Rancho is married or not ; baby delivery scene when Rancho asks get the Virus out… lol

Rajkumar Hirani congrats you did make a decent movie which will make many tongues’ wag but wait !! This is not a loose inspiration of “5 point someone ” lets accept it straight away.. A major bulk was lifted from the book it would have given some more satisfaction if the right people were credited for it with due respect.

Overall a good end to 2009 with a movie which as expected is leading the charts as the biggest blockbuster commercially in Bollywood.. Cheers to the team for giving us such a good movie .. You guys surely deserve a four point something on 5 as per my rating .. Don’t miss this movie at any cost…

My experience in this wonderfull city…

Hi Friends,

I never told you people about my short but very pleasant visit to the best planned city and cleanest city in India, Chandigarh. The architecture and urban planning has been done with utmost care that it really leaves a mark on your first visit to the city.

The capital of Punjab & Haryana (now I can say I’ve visited both the states at 1 go ) this city was actually Lahore before partition.. OMG did I go into Pak… lol.. Yep in a way I can say…

Thanks to my colleague for inviting me to his home and getting me a glimpse of this unique city. We started our day out from the Panjab University (no i didn’t do a typo .. it is spelt as PANJAB) where my friend lives.. A huge campus with loads of greenery it sure is a treat to spend your days of learning. Chandigarh as what i know is very popular for its quality of education..Affiliated to prominent universities it is one trying to jump deep into the IT world. The infrastructure of the city and its close proximity to the capital may be I assume the reason for its quick rapid growth in all fields. Well now coming back this city I must say is filled with most people having lots n lots of paper posing the Father of the Nation (Well I just meant money). Youngsters coming to college in nothing less than sedans was quite amazing to watch. Most of them involved in local politics as well so the inflow wouldn’t be a issue at all.

Stepping into the road will give you a shocker especially if you are from a city like Bengaluru. Gosh !! Which country are we in ?? Lush green lawns on either side of a 4 lane road with a divider in between.. and also an extra cycle lane on both sides… and traffic !! Ooopsies wait .. Now that must be a new term for the local population. No jams, No horning, Nobody rushing. Helmets are compulsory for even the pillion rider which is followed with utmost responsibility(Look whose talkin abt the helmet rule )… Being in UP past few months, i too had actually forgotten that RED in a signal means u gotta stop.. I was reminded about that…:-O .. Only hope such discipline will get implemented in our city sooner if not later it’ll be a great achievement.

I must tell you friends about this place called the Rock Garden. A 40 acre sculpture garden it is. The story goes that Nek Chand who is the creator collected materials from the demolition sites around the city (partition –> Pak — > lots of things to break maybe … ) and is supposedly built the garden illegally later made legal due to public demand… Hard to explain but marvels have been created from materials like broken bangles, odd shape stones, broken glass, bricks and even bulb holders.. Lesson to learn that nothing actually goes waste after use…

The whole place can be explored in a day n a half.. Smartly speaking not more than a day is really needed.

Hangouts are quite popular in the place just like ours .. though I’d say we got a better line of hangouts.. I just got a glimpse of one of the high profile ones in one particular colony… but wait I just had lunch at the restaurant and walked away.. The nite-life was not that great though…Hardly any takers even without the 11:30 shutdown notice… Finally we just went for a drive to a hill station nearby and back post mid-nite..

Coming to the malls.. Thumbs down. These are just forgettable structures compared to the ones in NCR.. But the insiders are just incomparable to any place. THE KUDIS !!! Are clothes stitched to cover or to uncover. A BIG QUESTION MARK ?? Some native of Chandigarh only must answer this. Too much uncensored talk will make a bad reading but GUYS expectation levels go beyond saturation level in this place… Nothin more…

Chandigarh is completely smoke free, plastic free. Buy anything from a shop and you will get it in a cloth or paper bag. I had heard of this before and its actually true. So many imported cars.. Man!! BMW’s,Porshe,Lexus,Audi… name it and you will surely find it parked or zooming somewer.

Hey BTW yes the Gol Gubba was tremendously delicious and so was the kulfies and so was the well I forgot all those Punjabi names… Unique varieties of snacks.. Not a great relief from aalu & paneers but Punjabi’s have their own touch of enjoyable cuisines…

I couldn’t make it to Mohali and Patiala(Hehe !!) however hoping i can go there sometime again… A memorable first time experience to one of the corners of India… As of now a rough road ahead with deadlines looking like demons approaching… Signing off .. Ciao till the next blog…

Working on a Saturday today… Yah I did type Saturday !!! Not much work around had loads for free time.. instead of chatting as usual thought I’ll write a small blog about last night…

FRIDAY NIGHT @ TECHM in DELHI NCR

Moved into a new project which is in the initial stages so lots of errors happening backend.. yet to get into the groove so we’re working overtime to make up for errors along with making up for the new work packet which keeps arriving every 20 hrs… Read the whole blog at one go .. sit back with a glass of … well whatever you like and respond after your done… No one on the floor except we stupids, playing songs in system with max volume and no one listening to them they are just to keep me awake. Punjabi, Hindi…well what happened to my taste!!! .. No kannada songs at all… God!!! Pretty amazed how an atmosphere around you could influence a person to forget what was once a default pick in the mind….

Ohh, some of my team mates are taking sofa breaks… Now what did I mean by that ??? The faithful client far away in the west has requested the fatefull company to make sure the employees are provided with utmost comfort… so what do we get ??? Big Cushion Sofas… So here are my pals resting on sofas provided for our team to rest. Literally dozing to glory but how long will that last anyways… Poor guys I will be the bad boy to awake them from their glorifying dreams soon to do some regression .. HAHA… Thanks mister Satan .. Oh Oh wait a min… Team lead(He gotta live upto the repu of being calld so) is only guy working (slogging would be the word )and coordinating with the client (Hinglish mix on the call)… common a call scheduled at 12:30 where literally the whole subcontinent would be in a drugged state and here he has to do a $$$ worth of discussion … Any suitable explanation for this.. I’ve just not been able to figure out .. When a person is in full flow there are chances of making so many mistakes and here we are coordinating a wholesome deal in a weird state of mind.. lol… Well ok so u are totally bugged up …. Here only just to do work which could have been done in normal shifts but client is following agile methodology and so we are as per company policy…. What are our onsite counterparts doing ??? Well I guess enjoying the aisles in the weekends and going downtown on Sat nite

Well the western culture of working nite outs has been taken up so casually in a country like ours where people tend to slog all thru the nite for an extra allowance which by far is of no significance considering the amount of stress the body actually puts in… Coffee/Tea… well caffeine is bad for health so fresh fruit juice now… jus does’nt work right once the threshold point is crossed… Right… The day dreaming concept is now becoming true… Hmm too many complaints.. then wat the hell am I doin out here would be a knock on the head question !!! What is the boost to work like this… Is it the fact that u get a hefty pocket at the end of the month or just having job in recession something that gives a bit of console… Haa pretty weird feeling !! Well no answer .. The grey matter just got pretty gloomy…

Oh no I missed the torture of cabs… Firstly thanks to the people behind the transport for having arranged a door drop beyond midnight else half the employees would go missing in a State like UP if they tend to go out alone in the night.. This is a state where we can open the morning paper and read nothing beyond rapes and murders for the first 3 sheets… Well hope the governance will be better sooner if not later… coming back to the cab story.. We would complain so much about transport in Bangalore but frankly guys ours is a jem of a place I assure you that… I go out and stand waiting for my cab ticket to be cleared and well here come 2 ladies(we’l discuss about them some other time) and two of us already waiting in queue. A single car and four employees means no space for a security guard… So what follows.. “Ladkiyo ko pehle choddho.. phir bhawan sector khatam karo” … Sirjee hamara sirf paanch min ka drop hai .. Well that was me and there is no point explaining the answer given to that… Ladies first Ladies safety.. yup rules are rules we will follow that.. get into the car… and we drive on n on .. the journey is worth a explanation really .. but that’s only for the first time you venture into the gallies of north india which you have only been watching in movies all these yrs… Haaa yes yes the narrow streets, rot iron cots outside the house and people half asleep on them, old grandpa on the mocha (remember the MG rd hangout right.. hehe) smoking away to glory … Gosh its nearly 45 mins since we left TechM right and dear lady where is your house… Bai Saab idar hi aagayi.. and when we actually get there it’s the pleasure of a treasure hunt game won … phew !!!! now wait a min .. how long are we taking to go back home now.. the driver looks half drunk literally… he needs a smoke else he’l never get us.. Get my friend to take his tobacco gut out and give him a few puffs else we’l never get to sleep … and we zooooooooooom away home in the next 20 odd mins.. Finally home sweet home.. next 10 mins your out into dream heaven..

I just happened to watch this movie with very less expectations and myworld was quite impressed with it end of the day. Welcome back to flicks on tinsel town, our very own tinsetown Bollywood.

Coming after an mindblowing flick Rock On the producers have made sure they just deliver the goods yet again and it proves to be a quality cinema.

Zoya Akhtar, the first name may sound ameaturish but surely not the last name. Definetely not suprising that a debut movie can look so beautiful especially if you have a legend as Javed Akhtar and another extremely succcessfull buddy to guide you in every step.

We’ve seen Rangeela or the recent OSO which does give us a deep insight on the working of the filmworld. Luck-By-Chance strikes a balance between the commercial elements and art cinema giving it a rejuvenated look. Vikram Jai Singh(Farhan Akhtar) dreams of becoming a hero and comes to B-Town Mumbai from Delhi. At his friend’s apartment he meets Sona(Konkana Sen) another aspring actress. Aly Khan is small producer taking advantage of her past 3 years making her do low grade cinema promising her a decend chance sooner if not later. Till that moment its just regulatory cinema where both become close to each other as they are in the same well struggling. Rishi Kapoor heavy budget producer decides to make a movie starring Zafar Khan(Hrithik Roshan) and popular actress Nina’s daughter Dimple. But despite begun the shoot Hrithik dumps the project after he gets a call from Karan Johar for his latest project. Look for a new face is on and how destiny pulls Vikram towards the project is superbly planned out by the director. What happens next and how destiny’s wish puts the toll on Vikram’s life forms the rest of the screenplay.

Shankar-Ehasan-Loy have delived tunes which have been very underrated. A few listenings and its surely catches you.

Though the climax may not be digested by all but it surely gives the right appeal. A bit of a drag in the latter half of the movie. Great camerawork but the editing sure needed a thought especially towards the latter half. Konkona Sen gives a sterling performance yet again and Farhan Akhtar is very natural, stil feel he’s underplayed himself as a hero. Rishi Kapoor, Juhi, Dimple, Sanjay Kapoor all do justice to their roles. The movie has quite a few guest appearances right from Aamir Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Akshaye Khanna, Kareena Kapoor to King Khan. Anurag Kasyap makes a 2 scene debut as well as a writer playing himself. On the whole watch it if you dwell for quality cinema, but can surely give it a miss with no regret if your looking for a timepass masala commercial cinema.

Power Star Puneeth surely deserved to prove himself after a series of disappointing movies this year. Vamshi – Destiny’s Child comes in as a power packed commercial entertainer. Of course with the production house reputation at stake as well and director Prakash having to live upto the success of Milana, Vaamshi was the best sandalwood lovers could expect coming towards the end of this year.

The narration of the film has been designed to follow a ‘classic approach’. Trying to portray the emotions of a rowdy son who wants to make an impact with the society by trying to become a responsible cop is the main glimpse of the script. Along with the always successful mother son relationship coming into play it gives a clean mix of action and sentiment with a small dose of comedy in bits and pieces.

Puneeth lives up to his power star image. Stunts, actions dwell in abundance. Maybe he could improve on his keeping the heroism image controlled and concentrate more on performance. New entrant into sandalwood Nikita (though a known face in the neighboring industry) has little scope but does justice to her role. But no prizes for guessing the winner. Its Lakshmi the old war horse who just doesn’t show any deterioration in her acting skills. Kudos to her for giving so much life into the mother role enacted by her. Komal tries hard to tickle your stomach. But the comedy is below average and just seems like they had added it to increase the runtime. Ravi Kale yet again is riveting. Dialog delivery is the key.

RP Patnaik comes up with yet another melody album. Bhuvanam sung by Soham Chakravarthy sets off the film to a healthy start. JOthe Jotheyali sung by Puneeth himself is already a hot favorite in all the FM stations and not to forget the Sonu Nigam song Yenaito which gives the thump during the second half. Another thing to note on the album is a Rajkumar song re-user to emphasize the mother sentiment. Thayi Thayi song – credits to Hams.

Vamshi may just be the movie which might seem like a change of image movie for Puneeth who was only seen in simple jolly easy going love stories all these years. Will this be an impact on his future movies as well only time can tell.. Though Vamshi was stated as a remake of a popular tamil flick i must say it had some serious changes in the script. No point cribbing or pin pointing fingers but surely there is no deny most scripts nowadays are inspired ones.

This should give you guys enough entu to watch the movie.

My My My … Here’s a new kid on the block all set to break the Khan’s barrier in bollywood. Leave along the movie but a sterling perfomance by Ranbir Kapoor is the major factor to speak in Bachna Ae Haseeno’s success if at all it does become a hit.

Three heroines all portrayed to give a oomph effect on the posters share equal screen space thanks to Yash Raj’s official director Siddarth Anand making a comeback after a disastrous Ta Ra Ram Pum. This venture may not prove to be so costly for him but lack of substance is something which has been common since his debut in Salaam Namaste as well.

******** U may skip this para if u want to avoid a spoiler on the movie *********

Coming back to the movie its time yash raj went out of switzerland and sydney and showed us some more new locales… lol … Starting off with a spoof on the evergreen DDLJ’s protagonist Raj(SRK) the script moves on the same lines with the same one liners with the gal here Minnisa Lamba (not simran ) missing her train (lol again) in Switzerland and our hero accompanies her to lead her to her parents but this is in a 2 weeler and not a smashing red convertible as SRK(:P). No prizes for guessing wat happened next.. love blossoms … and yet again the guy screws it up .. dont ask how wat … same old crap wer he’s blabbering to his fnds abt his experience and she’s just behing hearing everything from behind.. When they’l come over this age old concept even i’m waitin wit bated breath… Ok so all this was in 1996 … so we’l move forward and now its 2002 in Mumbai and time for Bips to hit the screen. By now our hero is such a settled fella.. works for microsoft making game software for xbox (aaahh wat an amazing life) .. Radhika(Bips) is the gal next door and yet again Raj’s charm works on her. She falls in love and soon marriage is on the cards. But Raj, being Raj , screws up again and flees to Sydney. OMG dont tell u had never seen such things before…

Lets come back to the main reason y we may have gone to watch the movie.. yes yes ok no matter how many times i may deny it directly it was deepika only ok… Now wat do we get to see then. Gayatri (tats deepika) is a cab driver in Sydney.. Pls gimmi a break .. if tats wat ur tellin urself in ur mind .. Raj falls for her and for a change its not infactuation its really love..And what she certainly doesn’t want is marriage. The trouble is – this time Raj falls in love and proposes her, only to get the taste of his own medicine. Now tat was some glimse of wat ur gonna expect .. wat happens after tat .. well just buy your own tickets and watch it..

Midse all this Rambir stands out portraying a bold performance mixed with emotions and a little bit of comedy. Real Killer with wonderfull screen presence and loads of talent maybe yet to be explored in future. Minisha playing a bubbly role was maybe the best among the ladies. Bips ofcourse casted as bombshell :-O .. HOt but chemistry, biology maths watever u call it wit Ranbir ofcourse is completely outta sorts. Deepika atleast a little better tis time since OSO and watever little we got to see her in the kannada movie Aishwarya. Better ease here. Kunaal kapoor plays a small cameo in the second half. Kudos to him he does live upto it well..

Vishal Shekar duo churn out a few popular numbers but Kuda Keyle stands out and they’ve been very smart to use it as main background score weapon as well. Siddharth the director just shows some signs improvement but depends on how he’s nurtured by Yash Raj. First timers of his movies may feel the pinch especially in the second half with badly placed songs, predictable sequences, silli narration in the climax. But if your ready to give a damn to all the IF’s it may just turn out to be a neat entertainer and worth your popcorn and ticket .

Avoid the frequent glitches and watch it… maybe its worth a watch.

Rating : **.5

There were different views within the industry as to how Ganesh’s fortures may turn after marriage..Unfortunately looking at the scripts being selected offlate by Ganesh looks really the difficult times have come.

D Rajendra Babu known for the stale outdated scripts lives upto his name yet again. Returning after Bindaas this just seems like a continuation from where he left Power Star tottering Golden Star given no opportunity at all to showcase his talents. The movie comes with a sub title which says “Idu ganesha Aata” but frankly speaking the aata never manages to impress apart from a few sequences of course.. All courtesy given to only Ganesh ofcourse and not the director.

Taunting narration, poorly placed songs, age old screenplay technique just shows the homework needed to make good commercial cinema is just not understood by the director. However Ganesh drags himself out of the drain by doing what he does best always.. entertaining the fans with his flow dialogs. However the action star image is something not his bowl of soup..Yes Goldy get back to the lover boy image, we don’t want to see you kickassing the villains. Glamor Gal Ramya may have rejected Chellata before but now the Golden Star tag added to Ganesh might have lured her into the movie. The chemistry between the two just seems out of sorts.

Coming to the cinematography. My word!!! What kind of work is that. Terrible shots and the camera angles are so bad especially in the climax where Ganesh looks bewildered. Songs are picturised very ordinarily. Pity Mr Rockline for cleaning up his pocket in selecting big time locations but all look too ordinary on screen. And the choreographer must have just finished up his aerobics lessons and gone to the sets. Technical aspects including the editing all done half heatedly. Better they come of of the mind blog that Ganesh’s movies will click by default.

The songs rendered quite well by meastro Mano Murty sound good but not very well picturised. Matinalli Helalarenu sung by Sonu is the song to be baffled about. The title track ‘I Am So Bombaat’ is placed at a wrong time in the movie as a result of which fails to catch up with the audience. The rest of the songs come and go but leave no impression.

Overall Bombaat is a movie which you may watch but only for the sake of Goldy and no one else. Fans may have something to cheer once the ganesha aata starts from the second half of the movie but too many plots and unnecessary flashbacks do get on your nerves. But the dialogs do manage to get the crowd onto their feet. Unnecessary exposure for Ramya in a song targetted at the front benchers could have been avoided. Ganesh looks too plumpy in some shots. Overall total timepass masala entertainer. Go for it with very low expectations so that you wont be disappointed. Watch the movie if your a Golden Star Fan

Director Christopher Nolan’s absolute stunner of a follow-up to 2005’s Batman Begins just got better.

Christian Bale as batman seems to be really frustrated with the people looking at him as an illegal outlaw breaking the rules. He’s pissed that the public sees him as a vigilante. He’ll leave the hero stuff to district attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) and stop the DA from moving in on Rachel Dawes, the lady love who is Batman’s only hope for a normal life. The real hero of the movie as usual is ofcourse THE GREAT JOKER. Heheee just take this… the Joker, treats a stunningly staged bank robbery like his private video game with accomplices in Joker masks, blood spurting and ofcourse he wins it with ease… lol.. Okey we’l stop at tat.. its just not fair in letting out the whole story and expecting everyone to enjoy it

The charaterisation has been so excellent. Bale as Batman able to show the inside of the mind of his character and his way he has been portrayed is excellent. Wheather its the outfit, voice imulation, gadgets, vehicals .. Could this have been done better ???

The joker was gonna live and die the movie… Kudos to Heath Ledger..He pulled it off and really was the Joker. his sick demented laugh and facial expressions made me laugh and at the same time jolted in my seat. It was really hilarious to watch every scene of his…

I dont review english movies .. main reason being i dont keep track of the previous histories… but the hype was just too much to avoid giving it a try. Maybe i’l try better next time by improving my knowledge … In all thumbs up for THE DARK KNIGHT …

DARE U MISS IT
