Filthy Toilet Humor in Abundance !!
by gokul ~ July 2nd, 2011.Its hard to come across a script where you are disgusted with the content but actually cant stop praising it in equal measure. The tagline says – Shit happens, yes Delhi Belly is this shitty movie which your mom will definitely not recommend to watch.
Delhi Belly - Shit Happens
Lately, Bollywood has been exploring the untraveled road of the youth. Be it Pyaar Ka Panchnama or Luv Ka The End, all of them have managed to win the hearts of the viewers. Delhi Belly will do the same, except that this comic thriller only targets the youth and no one else. The adult certificate doesn’t mean its for any Tom,Dick & Harry. Gaali and Zgrade content unlimited in Delhi Belly.
The story is routine but it is the screenplay which makes it interesting and funny. The comedy quotient is so high that even the routine story gets a boost. Added to this is the colorful language used by the characters, adds to the comedy. In fact, I don’t remember any Bollywood movie in the past which have so many four-letter words been passed by the censors. These swear words, uttered by the various characters with a lot of flourish seriously tickle your belly. The movie did remind me of another favorite movie of mine ‘Snatch’. Its probably the ‘diamond’ factor and the abuse which is common in both the movies.
Imran Khan had a bad run offlate but comes up with a performance that deserves an applause. So does Kunaal Kapur. His sense of timing is so brilliant that it’s a delight to watch him on the screen. Poorna lights up the screen with her personality and Shehnaz is, well, forced into really bad fitting clothes. Overall The female leads did such a bold job, lesser spoken the better 
Coming back to the music we cant say enough about Bhaag DK Bose. The lyrics let me confirm are completely irrelevant there is nobody called DK Bose and its upto you if you wanna add the ‘DK’ after the ‘Bose’. However undoubtedly the best song is Saigal Blues. The low-fi vocals just take you into a new world altogether. Switty tera pyar kinds of gells in a background score and add’s to the already fast tempo of the movie. Altogether the soundtrack is like a box of candy, every song is a treat.
Overall if you love slick comedy & guilty pleasure this is a must watch. However if you are that orthodox homely person just push this movie off your list you may end up in depression otherwise. A farting blockbuster we can conclude!
